Nevada Families First

Walking beside Las Vegas families on the autism journey.

An autism diagnosis brings a wave of questions. We're a Las Vegas non-profit guiding local families through evaluations, insurance, ABA therapy, and a grant program that helps families move to better-supported ABA care.

You're Not Alone

1 in 36 children in the U.S. is identified with autism. Las Vegas families deserve local, walk-beside-you support.

Our Mission

We help Las Vegas families move from "what now?" to a clear, confident next step.

Too many families leave the pediatrician's office with the words "it might be autism" — or a diagnosis appointment with a label — and no roadmap for what comes next. We fill that gap with real guidance, local knowledge, and direct financial help.

Early Observation

What the early signs can look like

Every child develops at their own pace. These are patterns worth noticing and discussing with your pediatrician — not a diagnosis.

01

Social Connection

Limited eye contact, not responding to their name by 12 months, or preferring solo play over interaction with peers and siblings.

Social engagement
02

Communication

Delayed speech, loss of previously used words, repeating phrases (echolalia), or difficulty with back-and-forth conversation.

Language & speech
03

Sensory & Repetitive

Strong reactions to sounds, textures, or lights; repeated movements like hand-flapping or rocking; intense focus on specific objects or topics.

Sensory processing

These observations don't replace a clinical evaluation. If something feels off, trust that instinct — and reach out. We can help you find the right next step.

How We Help

Four ways we walk beside Las Vegas families

01

Evaluation navigation

We demystify the diagnostic process — who does evaluations in Las Vegas, typical wait times, what to ask for, and how to prepare your child and yourself.

02

Insurance guidance

Understand Nevada's autism insurance mandate, appeal denials, compare Medicaid vs. private plans, and know what ABA coverage actually means.

03

ABA therapy education & referrals

Learn what quality, modern, child-led ABA looks like, red flags to avoid, and get direct referrals to local providers, evaluators, and therapists we know and trust.

04

Premium grant program (limited)

A narrow, case-by-case program — not always available. For qualifying Las Vegas families it can help offset an individual marketplace premium when switching from a low-support ABA provider, and in some cases help cover diagnostic testing with select partner providers.

Two separate applications

Pick the one you need — they are not the same form

One asks us for money directly. The other files your paperwork with the State of Nevada. You can do both, and neither costs anything.

Application 1 · NASA assistance

Insurance premium & transportation help

Help carrying an individual or marketplace premium so your child can be seen sooner by better-supported providers, and help with gas and travel to appointments. Case by case, limited by available funding.

Application 2 · State of Nevada

ATAP, Desert Regional Center & Katie Beckett

Answer one set of questions and we fill the real state forms for you, tell you which documents each agency requires, and check the packet before you file it.
